Right4Children is proud to celebrate the incredible achievement of one of our own — Padam Kumari Sunuwar, a dedicated staff member and an inspiring coach under our Right2Run project. She recently made headlines by becoming the ‘Last One Standing’ female finisher at Nepal’s very first Backyard Ultra event, held in Pokhara.
Backyard Ultra is a unique ultramarathon format where runners complete a 6.706 km (4.167-mile) loop every hour, on the hour, until only one runner remains. In this physically and mentally demanding race, Padam completed 12 loops, covering a distance of 83.87 km with an astonishing elevation gain of +2773 meters, all within 9 hours and 11 minutes. This feat not only highlights her endurance and determination but also marks a historic milestone, as it was Nepal’s first time hosting the Backyard Ultra race format.

Padam’s accomplishment goes far beyond her athletic abilities. As a committed member of Right4Children, she has been mentoring and training numerous young runners through the Right2Run project — a program that encourages discipline, confidence, and personal growth through sports. Her unwavering support for children and youth, especially those from marginalized communities, has already made a lasting impact in the lives of many.
Her recent success in the Backyard Ultra is a powerful example of resilience and perseverance. It proves that with dedication, dreams can indeed turn into reality — regardless of gender, background, or circumstance. For the children and youth she trains, Padam is more than a coach; she is a living inspiration.
We congratulate Padam on this outstanding achievement and are honored to have her as part of the Right4Children family. Her journey motivates us all to go the extra mile — both on the trail and in life.
